Hell is for children

My beautiful daughter, Rachel, left this world way, way too early. She was, by any account, a wonderful person. Humble. charitable, loving. Family always came first, and her daughter, Leslie, was her heart. If anyone deserves to go to heaven, it would be Rachel.

But, she’s in hell. She’ll spend eternity burning in the Lake of Fire. All she will ever know, for centuries upon centuries without end, is tortuous, unbearable agony. This, according to Christians, is undisputed, undeniable fact. And it’s all because she did not believe in God.

She wasn’t a hostile enemy, she just never accepted Biblical logic. It didn’t make sense to her. And according to every person on the planet who knows with complete certainty that if Adolph Hitler accepted Jesus with his final breath, he’d be in heaven, enjoying paradise forever, my beautiful daughter’s fate is sealed.

I’m sorry, but that’s something I cannot reconcile. Rachel meant, and still means, everything to me. So if Christians are right and she really is in hell right now, I know I’ll see here again some day.

Come to Belize

“Your battles inspired me – not the obvious material battles but those that were fought and won behind your forehead.” – James Joyce

When one wonders, then suns thunder
across glossed-over underlings
like lost discoveries, nothing to see here.

She hears familiar whimpering,
steel tears still shimmering;
is all that glitters truly gold?

That’s the myth we’ve all been told,
a fairytale to quell the rebellion.
Our Orwellian overlords can’t afford
to lord the lie over us.

The sword rises over us,
the blood flies over us;
and still, yes even still,
the prophecy remains unfulfilled…

I wonder…

Oath Keeper, Posse Comitatus, Sovereign Citizen. Cliven Bundy. Hero of the Right. He and his militia supporters turned back Federal agents from invading their land. This is part of one of his news interviews:

“I want to tell you one more thing I know about the Negro,” he said. Mr. Bundy recalled driving past a public-housing project in North Las Vegas, “and in front of that government house the door was usually open and the older people and the kids — and there is always at least a half a dozen people sitting on the porch — they didn’t have nothing to do. They didn’t have nothing for their kids to do. They didn’t have nothing for their young girls to do.

“And because they were basically on government subsidy, so now what do they do?” he asked. “They abort their young children, they put their young men in jail, because they never learned how to pick cotton. And I’ve often wondered, are they better off as slaves, picking cotton and having a family life and doing things, or are they better off under government subsidy? They didn’t get no more freedom. They got less freedom.”

I’ll admit I’m not nearly as intelligent as Bundy. I don’t have his courage, bravery or backbone. To be honest, I find it difficult to comprehend his wisdom. So, were Blacks really better off as slaves?

Fuck no! Are you fucking kidding me?!? What the fuck is wrong with this mother-fucking bat-shit crazy asshole?!?

The unlaced thread

“There are only two kinds of men: the righteous who think they are sinners and the sinners who think they are righteous.” – Blaise Pascal

Purplish mist descending,
upending ancient obelisks
as phantoms bewail
the last pilgrim’s trail.

Bitter smell of fresh-cut grass
icy touch, eidolon clutch
infinite emptiness
awaits the fated ones
within the broken circle…

Democrat starting pitcher Michael Pineda was ejected in the second inning of last night’s game against the Republicans for having a foreign substance on his neck. The Republicans went on to beat the Democrats 5-1. Also yesterday, the Yankees in Georgia significantly expanded gun rights to the ire of Red Sox fans.

Wait a moment, I got that wrong.

The political climate in today’s America between those on the Left, the MSNBC-ers, and those on the Right, the Fox News-ers, pretty much mirrors the way rivalry sports fans feel about each other. When there’s a close play at the plate, fans of one team know for certain the call must go their way; while fans of the other team know for certain the call must go their way.

Republicans know Democrats are hateful, stupid, cheating liars. Democrats know Republicans are hateful, stupid, cheating liars.

Truth is, there’s a lot more upon which Republicans and Democrats, and Yankees and Red Sox fans, agree than disagree. We all want a drink when we’re thirsty. We all want to eat when we’re hungry. When we buy something, we all want to get the best deal. We all strive, not always successfully, to be good, honest, fair people. We all want what we think is best for our country. We all love our families. There are thousands more things I could cite, but I hope I’ve made my point.

Republicans and Democrats both love the game of baseball. Yankees fans and Red Sox fans both love our country. Maybe that’s where we should start the conversation.

“You can have peace. Or you can have freedom. Don’t ever count on having both at once.” – Robert A. Heinlein

Staring down the barrel of a jar of marmalade
blaring sounds so sterile that they bar the barricade.
Bosons fly, bosons fall;
opposers cry, opposers crawl.

All almost always sway
mild-mannered minds this way
or that; they don’t come back
from backbreaking madness
or track-staking slackness.

No transgress creates
the hate which lured them in,
which lured them in to sin…

Too late

“Imagination though it cannot wipe out the sting of remorse can instruct the mind in its proper uses.” – William Carlos Williams

My misty eyes gaze at grey skies
now I realize it was all lies.
No one’s wise when faced with truth,
omnipotence of youth
melts like an ice cream cone on a summer’s day
and all I can say is I’m sorry…
