Civil War II

Much as I wanted to avoid this story, it is becoming more and more evident that it can not be ignored.

Cliven and Carol Bundy, and the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, have been involved in a lengthy dispute over the alleged misuse of federal land for grazing. According to the BLM, the Bundys have used federally managed public lands for their cattle and have refused to pay the appropriate grazing fees for the past 20 years. The bureau says the family has ignored repeated warnings to remove the cattle. The Bundy family now owes more than $1 million in unpaid fees, the BLM says, which prompted the agency to obtain a federal court order last week to seize and auction off the Bundys’ cattle.

A stand-off then ensued between federal law enforcement agents and about 300 armed citizens supporting Cliven and Carol. Hours later, the feds departed…

The media has determined that this isn’t the end of the story, it’s merely the beginning. Voices on the Right, the Far Right, and the Far Far Right say this is the start of the next Ruby Ridge. Or the next Waco. Either way, Obama is going to kill American citizens. The Fox News commentators have been riling up their audiences all week. Obama is a sinister megalomaniac. Unless nothing happens, which would prove the meme the Obama is weak.

“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” – Thomas Aquinas

No one to nurse the crying baby;
stars hide behind the fog.
Can you see through a paper-thin trampoline?
“Maybe”, said the sad old frog.

Like a pile of dirty dishes left overnight,
my sins aren’t easily washed away.
Can you see through three-foot thick cellophane?
“I might”, said the devil’s next prey…

“To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering.” – Friedrich Nietzsche

Transcending the offending Master
causing nothing less than pure disaster;
like a neglected ancient temple,
his bravery only resembled
a long forgotten tomb.

When minstrels gather to recall
his truly ignominious fall
not a kind word will be uttered;
hearts and minds will all be shuttered
as the march of death resumes…

Mathematical logic

“The need to be right is the sign of a vulgar mind.” – Albert Camus

Today is Good Friday. Two days from now we will celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. Well, whoever considers himself a Christian will celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. The rest of Father Abraham’s descendants, from the Houses of Isaac and Ishmael both, will treat the day as any other. And although there live more people on earth who subscribe not to any of these religions than do all those in these three groups combined, every one knows for certain that they are right and every one else is wrong.

How is that possible?

To dream of verdant pastures and azure skies,
of panoramic bliss before our eyes;
a realm where peace abounds across the land
where kinship is born from nothing more
than an outstrecthed hand
and rests on nothing less than an honest word.

To dream of playful cheer and joyful song,
of pleasant smiles among the throng
of happy neighbors joined by one-time strangers
and warm embraces from sentimental faces
as well as caresses that ignite the breast.

And let the dream begin…

Sinner be gone

8-year-old  Sunnie Kahle donated her hair to a female cancer patient. She liked the new shorter hairstyle so much she decided to keep it. Doris Thompson, the girl’s grandmother and legal guardian, subsequently received the following message:

“You’re probably aware that Timberlake Christian School is a religious, Bible believing institution providing education in a distinctly Christian environment … We believe that unless Sunnie as well as her family clearly understand that God has made her female and her dress and behavior need to follow suit with her God-ordained identity, that TCS is not the best place for her future education.”

The school has the legal right to remove a student for “sexual immorality, practicing a homosexual lifestyle or alternative gender identity.”

Kahle now attends public school, but her grandmother cries everyday because she wanted so very much for her granddaughter to have a Christian education. Be careful what you wish for…
